Essence of Samaritan Farm: Where Art, Agriculture, and Eco-Tourism Flourish
Tucked away in the village of Samaritan, St. Patrick’s, Essence of Samaritan Farm is a vibrant testament to Grenada’s agricultural heritage, family vision, and artistic creativity. This 22-acre, family-owned farm is celebrated not only for its premium spices and teas but also for the heart, innovation, and artistry behind every product.
A Living Legacy
Founded in the late 1960s by Neville “Chief” Rennie, whose vision was for Grenadian farmers to prosper by adding value to their world-class crops, Samaritan Farm has long been a beacon of local pride and ambition. Today, Chief’s dream is honored and expanded by his children, including Ms. Allana Hankey-Thomas and her siblings. Together, they have taken the reins, committed to preserving their father’s legacy while evolving the farm for a new generation.
A New Chapter: Blending Family, Art, and Eco-Tourism
The siblings, including Ms. Allana Hankey-Thomas, are working diligently to transform Samaritan Farm into a thriving eco-tourism destination. They are infusing the farm with new life by offering tours, welcoming visitors, and creating opportunities for people to experience Grenada’s natural beauty and agricultural traditions firsthand.
One of their most creative ventures is the production of artfully hand-painted spice bags and boxes. These unique packages are much more than containers for Grenadian spices—they are true works of art, reflecting both the spirit of the island and the artistic talents of farm manager Jude Durham. Each item is crafted with care, making them perfect gifts and cherished souvenirs.
